「君の名は」

 「君の名は」というえいがは私の一番好きなえいがです。三年ぐらいの前にこのえいがをはじめてみました。そして、まだ、大好きです。主人公（しゅじんこ＝main characters)は高校生の立花瀧（たちばな たき）と宮水三葉（みやみず みつは）です。この二人はswtich bodiesしますから、プロットはとてもおもしろいです。

This was the third time I've seen the movie, so I already knew exactly what happens, but I always appreciated the cultural highlights in the film: the contrast between tradition and modernity that Mitsuha and Taki respectively embody, the job hunting process in Japan which Taki demonstrates at the end of the movie, and gender expectations (made especially clear because a girl switched into a boy's body and vice versa). 

The previous times I've watched Your Name, I watched it dubbed, so this was my first time hearing the original Japanese voicing. I noticed the differing dialects between Mitsuha's rural speech and Taki's Tokyo speech: Mitsuha says "や" at the end of quite a few sentences, and I think it means something like "だ", which is the informal "です". The English dub tried to capture the dialect differences, but it's naturally very hard to translate that over. 

In that vein, there's a scene when Mitsuha first switches into Taki's body and she's talking to Taki's friends (while embodying Taki). Mitsuha as Taki is explaining why she got lost on the way to school and begins with "私..." and Taki's friends look confused. Then Mistuha as Taki goes through the other first person pronouns: 私 but she pronounces it as わたくし (which I assume is a word in her dialect), ぼく, and then おれ. His friends nod; おれ is the one Taki usually uses.

So, I enjoyed the cool things like that, things that only catch on when you're familiar with the Japanese language.
